Veterans of Foreign Wars magazine recently published an article on The American Widow Project and featured a few images from Women of The AWP. http://www.vfw.org/
We’re happy to announce that through the fiscal sponsorship of Fractured Atlas, the project is now set-up with 501 (c)(3) tax status to receive tax-deductible contributions! Please visit the donation link to help us tell more stories!
Our new goal is to do at least 20 new stories by Memorial Day 2011! If you or someone you know has story and would like to collaborate with us, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to email us!
Since we’re launching the new site, I thought it apropos to post some images from our first collaboration together, back in 2008 at a World United Music Festival San Marcos, Texas. Taryn, Tara ( T.T ) and Nicole set-up camp with the RV, to welcome fellow widows and introduce AWP to the festival goers. They were also honored that year. Shortly after the festivities, they took off across the country in the RV ( which I hear is now covered with the 5700 names of the fallen soldiers from these wars) , visiting military bases and offering support around the country.
