OUR MISSION

The Other War is a photo and video project about young military widows from across the country. Our goal is to create honest and intimate portraits that will stand as a lasting testament to the “other side” of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As the project progresses, we plan on bringing this work to the public with a traveling exhibition and publication of a book of the portraits and stories.

Where it all began! My first shoot with The AWP!

Since we’re launching the new site, I thought it apropos to post some images from our first collaboration together, back in 2008 at a World United Music Festival San Marcos, Texas.  Taryn, Tara ( T.T ) and Nicole set-up camp with the RV, to welcome fellow widows and introduce AWP to the festival goers.  They were also honored that year. Shortly after the festivities, they took off  across the country in the RV ( which I hear is now covered with the 5700 names of the fallen soldiers from these wars) , visiting military bases and offering support around the country.
